Second section: Communication

In this unit, you’ll learn how children with autism communicate as well as common mistakes made when trying to promote language development. You’ll be introduced to strategies helping to break down language in order to teach your children how to expand their language and to communicate effectively.

Third section: Socialization

Teaching your child how to play can work wonders for his/her social skills, as all children socialize through play. Here, you’ll learn how to break down play in order to make a fun and enjoyable teaching process. Watch your children not only enjoy play, but also make stronger connections with family members and build lasting friendships with their peers!

Potty Training

A successful potty training is a step closer to independence. However, this is not easy for parents of kids with autism. This course has 2 sections which are:

Section 1: Potty Training

This lesson walks you through the "setting up" process including the suggested list of items to be purchased and how to set up your bathroom for potty training success. It also includes other training  aspects such as teaching your child to verbally communicate when he/she needs to use the bathroom and tracking your child's urination and bowel movement patterns.

Section 2: Poop Training

As there are some subtle differences between poop and pee training a child with autism, in this lesson you’ll know when your child is ready for poop training, helping your child to calm down during the process and build independence which includes wiping, flushing and pulling up their own underwear and pants.

Michelle Lewis

I knew I needed something more than just addressing the behaviors, I needed to really address who my son was as a little boy. Dr. Nunez’s approach pushes him to be the best he can be. We now have so much hope for him as he grows up and approaches being a teenager. He has learned a sense of confidence and awareness of the things he is good at. He doesn’t often question himself or the way he does things – he asserts himself! Dr. Nunez’s approach pushes him to be the best he can be, and without Dr. Nunez and her team I don’t think he would know there doesn’t have the limits that maybe other people impose on him. I don’t even like to think about where he would be had we not worked with Autism Therapy.

Jo Daley

Dr. Nunez and her team got my son doing things I couldn’t believe, and little by little he keeps gaining more skills and language. It has changed our world. I don’t know what I would have done without Dr. Nunez’s method. With other providers, my son would scream and run away. Dr. Nunez’s approach, her follow through, her language, her inflection, and the way the whole approach is implemented got my son wanting to learn. This approach has also helped me as a parent because I mirror all the things I see and hear and try them myself. It has helped me to interact with my son. I’ve learned to be a parent my son needs. My son came from a place of living in extreme fear and anxiety, and now he is coming into enjoying his life and having fun.

Tina Ruth

The support we have with Dr. Nunez and her team is incredible. My son would not be where he is if we listened when other professionals said “he can’t”. Those words are something I have never heard with Dr. Nunez. We started when he was 4, he is high school now, and wants to go to college. If it wasn’t for Dr. Nunez and Breakthrough Interventions I don’t know where we would be. Dr. Nunez is part of our family – it’s great to have someone you can count on who knows so much more about autism. She helps parents through the tough parts to get these children to much higher levels. I now see nothing but great things for my son’s future. He is the happiest kid I know. My husband jokes and says, “when I grow up, I want to be exactly like our son.”

My Personal Note

Over the years, I have seen many parents limit what they think is possible from their child and bounce from therapist to therapist looking for solutions.

I have also seen the radical transformations that are possible when parents really commit to being their childs own therapist.

If you have read this far, I sincerely hope that you take a moment today to take the first step in helping with your childs developmental needs.

I look forward to meeting you in the members area.
